hesitating at first
wondering
hopeful
Was it really time?
Beside it
ice-cold shivers,
frosty windows,
the heaviness of wool
all abandoned.
In its place
rays of life,
sparks of excitement,
the lightness of cotton
accompanied me.
Today, I left my coat behind.
Ahead I see
sunshine,
blossoms,
rebirth,
SPRING!
Happy for you the weather is turning. Wonderful poem...thank you.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful poem to welcome spring! I loved the surprise of "Today, I left my coat behind." Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteNice. I wanted to leave mine behind. Good thing I didn't. Still cold in the mornings. UGH!
ReplyDeleteSo creative, Laura! At first, you had me wondering what it was you'd left behind (a plant you'd left outside, perhaps?)... and then such great little hints to help us discover that it was your coat! :-) The joy of spring is so evident in your last two stanzas! Lovely! :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have left my coat behind ... today was still a bit breezy! One of these days ... great poem to start poetry month!
